I DID IT!!!

I did it -- I ran 13.1 miles when just 10 months ago, I couldn't even jog down the block!

It's definitely a fantastic accomplishment, and I knew the second I finished I knew I wanted to someday do a full. It was the most powerful moment - you feel like you do anything.

My sister and I SURPASSED our goal and raised $4124 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society!!! Thank you everyone who supported us throughout our endeavour!

I DID IT!!!

I can't believe I ran 13.1 miles...

With an injured ankle!

My finish time was 2:49:47!!! I am really pleased with the time considering I had not run outside in 5 weeks. (I managed to put in two light treadmill runs (3 and 5 miles) several weeks before. And in my last week before the race, I ran 20 minutes on Monday, 15 bicycle 15 treadmill on Tuesday, and 30 minutes on Thursday. All the last minute stuff really wasn't going to make a difference, but I think it helped...)

It was the most beautiful course, and the first 6 miles went by easy.
It was around mile 8 that I started hurting a little bit... the irony is that it wasn't my bad ankle... it was my good one! Then the knees started aching. I powered through it, and finished in one piece.

I was CRAZY sore the next day though! Just the slightest 10 degree decline and I felt it all in my quads. I extended my stay an extra day in SF to rest up which was a wise idea.

Elaine did SO awesome -- I am so super proud of her. She finished in just under 5 hours which is so fantastic for her first marathon. I am really glad I did this with her. It is the perfect women's event, really great for your first half or full.

I need to go through and get the pictures posted up, etc... but I wanted to let everyone know I am doing great and survived one of the greatest accomplishments of my life! I am determined to do the full someday... but now my focus is now on getting my ankle fully recovered.

Thanks to all who donated and supported me this whole time!!! Running for charity made all the difference when it's such a long endeavor... I'll update with pics and links soon.
