Despite being on the DL, I went and ran on the treadmill tonight for 3.3 miles. I had missed my weekend run because of my ankle, so I was starting to feel guilty -- especially when it was supposed to have been my big double-digit run. It's amazing how just not being able to do something, makes me want to do it more. I went thinking I should only go and do the elliptical, and when I got there I decided that I can do a light jog on the treadmill.
When I started it run, it hurt a little, and adjusted my speed to slow down when it felt strained. Then the hurting would subside, I felt stronger and would keep going. I definitely feel my other leg and muscles compensating for the hobble leg. At times the ankle felt perfectly fine, until I feel it throw off a little on an upkick. I had the ankle all wrapped up and everything too. But I should definitely rest a many more days again before I try anything again.
I think my time ended up 42:03 (easy-going 12.74 minute/mile). I think I re-strained my ankle a few times during the run tho. :( :( :( It's been 5 days, and sometimes it swells up just a little around the ankle bone. I have been ice-packing it, and taking advil, which seems to help it go away. No more running this week tho.
